Reviews
Magnol is located in the middle of nowhere. Drive slow so that you won’t miss the turn (which I did miss a turn, and I had to make a big u-turn). There is plenty of parking. Many customers do grab-and-go, so finding a parking spot won’t be an issue.
I came on Friday morning (9am), and they had already sold out the almond croissants. But they still had plenty of pastries, bread, plain and chocolate croissants. There was a little of wait (15mins) but I was fine with it because good things come to people who wait. The lady who served me was very friendly and cheerful. I had one of each pastry displayed in the case. I also bought two chocolate croissants, two plain croissants, linzer cookie, chocolate chip cookie, canelé de Bordeaux, and a cup of chai latte (non-coffee).
The croissants were DELICIOUS! They had the 3Fs - flaky, fluffy, fragrant. Thank goodness they bake many of them! The linzer cookie was soft and crumbly. The jam in the middle wasn’t sweet. The chocolate chip cookie was soft and chewy, and wasn’t too sweet. The chocolate chips were miniature sized, and they were perfect in the mouth. The cannelé de Bordeaux was super soft in the middle, and crisp on the outside. Yummy! The pastries I got were Mille Feuille, green apple cake, chocolate eclair, lemon tart, lemon raspberry roll, opera cake, Paris-Brest, and religieuse. Puff pastry of the Mille Feuille was airy, light, flaky, and fragrant. The pastry cream in between had the right sweetness. The green apple cake was tart and had very strong green apple taste. Yum! The chocolate eclair shell was soft, and filled with vanilla bean cream. It was not overly sweet. The lemon tart had a delicious lemon curd inside which was sour, but balanced well with the sweet cream on top. The tart shell was perfectly baked. The lemon raspberry roll was good. It could have more sponge though. The opera cake was rich. The chocolate and coffee tastes were distinct in the layers. Delicious! The Paris-Brest was so good. The choux pastry was baked just right, and praline cream was smooth and had the right sweetness. Lastly, the choux buns of the religieuse were soft, and both were filled with chocolate cream. The chocolate cream was rich and tasted good.
I finished the chai latte at the outdoor seating area while enjoying the beautiful weather. The chai was prominent in the drink. I couldn’t stop at just one sip. There are about 5 tables outside the bakery, and 3 small tables inside the bakery. Thus plenty of seats for customers to enjoy their pastries/bread/coffee etc. I will definitely be back for more!
This place is really good. We got the Paris brest, the pistachio eclair, the canele, the chocolate almond croissant, the passionfruit cheesecake, and the Mille-feuille. Everything was good but the eclair, Mille-feuille, and croissant is what we’d get again. We wanted a chocolate cookie but there was a delay between when I got there and when the next batch would be ready. The only gripe I had was there wasn’t a label on all of the items offered so I was picking blind a bit
Came back to try the coffee eclair which was good. The lemon meringue tart was even better
Easily one of the best pastry shops in houston although it's in a weird location
I got one of their breads - very fresh lasted almost a week
An eclaire and Paris brest
Both were delicious
First time here and I will definitely be back.
Cashier was friendly and so was the gentleman who made my coffee.
The lemon meringues were so delicious! I also got the vanilla latte which I enjoyed.
I thought I’d had good croissants before but after having the croissants from Magnol I realized I actually hadn’t. These were so delicious, so much flavor, perfect texture— I will only get croissants here from now on. Honestly it’s a bummer- it’s ruined me for other croissants!
We drove all the way from Humble for this one and do not regret it. We've been to Paris a few times and this bakery is the only comparable option we have in or near Houston. The croissants were delicious with a soft and crispy texture. You can also see the staff in the back working in the bakery unlike many other places that mass produce their food and wonder why people write bad reviews. There was a line but it moved briskly and the staff was kind and professional.
This bakery deserves every star of their review. We have tried for the first time and won’t be our last! We came around the or closing time and most items were sold out(must be good)!! The staff was friendly and answered in details all my questions. We managed to get the roll cake with raspberry on top and mango cheesecake. The roll was heavenly, light cream with refreshing berry and moist cake. Perfect dessert! Will come back to try more!
Update: so glad we found this place as their baguette and croissants are fantastic! Truly perfection!
Cool French bakery with lots of freshly baked options ranging from breads to pastries. Espresso-based drinks are also available.
Vibe - Employees heartily welcomed us when we came in. There's a good number of seating available both inside and outside. We came in on a Sunday at around noon and a lot of people came in and out pretty quickly.
Food and drinks - we ordered a slice of mango passionfruit cheesecake and iced vanilla latte. The cheesecake was decadent and delicious! Mango paired nicely with the passion fruit, and the creamy tang of the cheesecake rounded it all out. The iced vanilla latte was one of the best we've had in Houston. They use velvet espresso from Katz (local Houston roaster) and a vanilla syrup. The ratios were perfect, with the creamy milk and smooth vanilla combining well with the darker notes of chocolate and cinnamon from the espresso. The ice didn't dilute the drink too much either, even by the time it had all melted. We were pretty impressed 👏.
This place is Let's Eat Houston approved! Give it a try.
